West Suburban Illinois DSA (WSILDSA) has elected to give recommendations in upcoming Democratic Primary races. All the races we have given light below have at least two people running. There are not too many primaries unfortunately, but hopefully some of the allies we’ve found can get to office and fight for socialist (and aligned) causes!

All candidates highlighted are pro-palestine, all are pro medicare for all, and, according to research by the Electoral Working Group for WSILDSA up to Jan. 2026, are worth our support in the primary to, at minimum, turn the Democratic Party more left.

At our January General Chapter Meeting, our members voted, and the results are in! The members of West Suburban IL Democratic Socialists of America have voted to endorse Mahnoor Ahmad for DuPage County Board in District 2. We have already scheduled canvassing events to help support our endorsed candidates on the ground. We are proud to endorse West Suburban IL Democratic Socialists of America member Mahnoor Ahmad in DuPage County Board District 2.

As a child of immigrants and a lifelong public health advocate, Mahnoor Ahmad has seen firsthand the challenges that face the working class of DuPage County, such as rising housing costs and limited access to healthcare, especially mental healthcare. Mahnoor is committed to running a people-powered campaign and creating lasting change in the county, and she will fight for residents’ ability to manage the cost of living, protect their homes’ infrastructure, access healthcare, and more easily navigate county services.

Unionized Starbucks Workers are on strike across the country and here in the Chicagoland area in Des Plaines (Lee and Oakton store) and Geneva (3rd and State), with the Aurora store (Kirk and Butterfield) joining the strike this Thursday 11/20/25.

West Suburban IL DSA is calling on community members to support Starbucks Workers United by doing the following:

1. Sign the No Contract, No Coffee Pledge
2. Show up at the picket line to support the baristas (pick dates below on form!)
3. Donate to the Regional Strike Fund to support SBWU workers directly while they are out on strike
4. Post about the strike on social media
5. Collect and distribute non-perishable foods and home essentials for striking workers
6. Prepare breakfast or lunch and bring it to the picket line

Satnaam isn’t taking any corporate money because it ends up being a bribe. We must keep our communities safe from ICE, make sure all community colleges offer more vocational training as well as 4 year degrees with increased course offerings to lower tuition across the board, and our state pension plan is invested in Illinois rather than Israeli bonds.
